Councilor Denny was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico but is a Roswell native and graduated from Goddard High School in 1990. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology - Information Systems Security. Councilor Denny wholeheartedly feels that you have to live your life with honesty, integrity and trust and that you should treat others the same. Anything other than those three principles is not acceptable.

Since leaving Roswell, Councilor Denny has had the privilege of living in Virginia, Northern and Southern California, New York and North Carolina. While she lived in Virginia she worked for The New York Times and was instrumental getting their PeopleSoft software up and running in several of their newspapers in Florida and Alabama. This is when she found her passion for IT and training which led her to take a job working for KPMG. Working for KPMG gave her the opportunity to work with different companies, people with different ethnic backgrounds and a variety of work ethics across the United States. These once in a lifetime opportunities gave her the ability to see what change can do for the people and the companies that she worked with.

Councilor Denny then decided that she wanted to work for herself and became an independent consultant, traveling around the United States installing and training the software system, PeopleSoft. She then began working for Nationwide Insurance at the end of 2001 and worked there for over 11 years as a Claims Investigator. When she moved backed to Roswell in May 2012 she opened Roswell's first cross-fit gym and sold it in 2015 to have more time to work with our community’s youth. Councilor Denny is the Executive Director/Coordinator of Pecos Valley Teen Court of Chaves County, which provides alternative sentencing for Roswell’s youth. She wholeheartedly believes that our youth are our future and that they deserve every opportunity to have a successful future. She is co-owner of the Scuba Shop with her husband Shawn.

Community Involvement

She is also a current member of the following: DWI Planning Council, Comprehensive Strategy Board, Leadership Roswell Alumni Board and NM Teen Court Association. Councilor Denny also volunteers her time at CASA with the CASA program of Chaves County. She believes that it is important to be involved with your community. To help make a difference you have to be willing to learn, be open to new ideas and have the willingness to donate your time and talent.
