Warrant issued for arrest of shooting suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Roswell man accused of shooting another local man April 5 as the two sat in a vehicle in an alley in west Roswell.

Roswell Police Department investigators are seeking to arrest Sebastian J. Montes, 20 (pictured). He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting of a 28-year-old man who was with him in the alley south of Capitan Park, which is located at the corner of West Alameda Street and Evergreen Avenue.

The shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. The suspect fled on foot and the victim called 911. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm and right chest. An RPD sergeant who arrived on scene used a tourniquet to help stop the victim’s bleeding before medics transported the victim to a hospital. The victim is expected to survive. A motive for the shooting remains uncertain.

The suspect, Montes, is about 5’11” tall and weighs about 175 pounds. He has tattoos on his neck and right leg.
