    Alien Planets Revealed (documentary, 53 min.) - all audiences 2:00pm It’s a golden age for planet hunters: NASA’s Kepler mission has identified more than 3,500 potential planets orbiting stars beyond our Sun. Some of them, like a planet called Kepler-22b, might even be able to harbor life. How did we come upon this distant planet? Combining startling animation with input from expert astrophysicists and astrobiologists, “Alien Planets Revealed” takes viewers on a journey along with the Kepler telescope.

    Weirdest Planets (documentary, 47 min.) - all audiences 3:30pm With temperatures ranging from 1000 to 2000°C, gravity 15 times stronger than Earth's, and a year that lasts just 5.6 of our days, HAT-P-2b is not a planet you'd want to visit for vacation. The unusual gas giant—located 440 light-years away in the constellation Hercules - turns out to be the most massive planet found outside our solar system so far. Journey further into space with this documentary, and discover the weirdest planets of our universe. These programs are free and open to the public.

    Guess the Gummies Contest (ages 0-12) – How Many “Book” Worms are in the Librarian’s Stomach? Go into the Children’s Area and guess how many gummy “book” worms are in the jar. Whoever gets the closest guess by Friday, April 14 gets to take home the jar of gummies! Love Your Library Social Media Show and Tell Contest (all ages)– Head over to Facebook and/or Instagram to tell us why you love your library! Post a picture or a comment about what you love the most about the library. Make sure to hashtag #RPLtransforms on Instagram and tag us on your Facebook post. Participants will be added into a random drawing for a Fierce Reads Coloring Book. Creativity is encouraged. Good luck!

Encompassing works created by both faculty and alumni, as well as prominent southwestern artists such as Laura Gilpin and Kenneth Miller Adams, this collection is an important facet of Roswell’s vast cultural heritage, and emphasizes the Institute’s ongoing interest and commitment to art as well as education. In recognition of NMMI’s 125th anniversary, this exhibit will showcase the school’s art collection, and highlight the Institute’s interaction with the Roswell Museum.
