  1. Race for the Zoo

    May 13, 2017, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Spring River Park & Zoo

    The City of Roswell Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting the Annual Race for the Zoo Saturday, May 13, 2017. The event will begin at 8:00am at Spring River Park & Zoo located at 1306 E. College Blvd. The Race for the Zoo consists of a competitive 10K run, 10k walk, 5k run, and a 5k walk. Entry forms are available at the Roswell Adult & Recreation Center located at 807 N. Missouri or online at roswell-nm.gov. Registration on race day will be from 6:30am - 7:30am at Spring River Park & Zoo. Packet pick up will be May 12th at Spring River Park & Zoo from 4:00pm - 6:00pm or on race day morning from 6:30am - 7:30am. Pre-registration fee for the10K run or walk, 5k run or walk is $30.00 on or before May 12, 2017 or $35.00 on race day. Roswell Museum and Art Center

  1. Second Saturday: Collage, Color & Intent with Cate Erbaugh & Shannon Rankin

    May 13, 2017, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Collage, Color, & Intent with Cate Erbaugh and Shannon Rankin Students will take a look at a painting in the museum and analyze how the artist's skillful selection of color enhances the intensity of their piece. Each student will then compose a collage selecting just the colors that help get their idea across. Materials: dry pastel, found papers, fabrics (including a sewn element.) Instructor will demo color mixing with pastels, and pastels on fabric. Second Saturday is a nine-month program of gallery experiences and hands-on art activities for students in grades 3-12 held on the second Saturday of the month. To register a student for the upcoming session, please call Amanda Nicholson at 575-624-6744, ext. 22. Participation is free and space is limited. This program is sponsored by the Roswell Museum and Art Center Foundation.
