Juanita Jennings, Public Affairs Director
Juanita is passionate about meeting and balancing the challenges of each one of her roles in life. She moved to Roswell in 2014 after living in Albuquerque while working in marketing and broadcast media. Juanita graduated from New Mexico State University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication. In her personal time, Juanita supports her children by volunteering at their school through PTA, as a team mom for her boys’ baseball teams and as a social media coordinator volunteer for Noon Optimist Little League. She loves food and traveling, but also enjoys lazy days at home with her family. She and her husband have two amazing boys and one rambunctious pup named Maverick.
Personal thoughts, favorite quotes:
Lead by example, be respectful and professional.
Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. – Aristotle, ancient Greek philosopher
You’ve got to find what you love... Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. – Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Inc.
Stephanie Mervine, Tourism Manager
Steph relocated to Roswell as an east coaster with recent experience in tourism at Wicomico County, Maryland. Her solid work ethic and experience in destination promotion combined with a deep hospitality-industry knowledge in LA and NY are assets in her role in Roswell. Additionally, she brings a strong background in sales-team development, hotel management projects and brand launches. Her role in Public Affairs assists in elevating our Roswell brand, attracting new events, and identifying opportunities for use of lodgers’ tax funding. On a personal note, balance and faith are important in every aspect of Steph’s life. Steph enjoys international travel, with her bucket-list trip being a visit to Bora Bora.
Don’t be afraid to fail, learn from the experience, move forward and adapt!
Todd Wildermuth, Public Information Officer
Todd came to Roswell in 2014 to become the public information officer for the Roswell Police Department. His role soon expanded to serve as PIO for all city departments. Todd has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico. Prior to coming to Roswell, Todd was a longtime reporter and editor at The Raton Range newspaper in Raton in the northeast part of New Mexico. He arrived in the state in 1985 from Massachusetts. Todd enjoys most sports (and remains a loyal fan of Boston/New England teams) and is an avid baseball fan. A member of the New Mexico Officials Association, Todd works as an umpire for high school baseball and Little League. He also enjoys playing Scrabble and taking walks with his wife.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. – Proverbs 16:3
I sometimes wish that people would put a little more emphasis upon the observance of the law than they do upon its enforcement. – Calvin Coolidge, 30th U.S. President
Thalia Pantoja-Gruis, Marketing Coordinator
Thalia graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. She spent a year traveling as a leadership consultant and learned she did not want to be in front of a camera, but instead channeled her passion of social media into a career. She enjoys time with her parents, siblings, nephews and niece, constant dinner and movie dates with friends, reading books, cooking, streaming novelas and sitcoms, scrolling through newsfeeds and listening to podcasts. She was married in March 2020 (shout out to all you COVID brides) to her wonderful husband, Christian, and together they work on Spanish lessons, ice cream runs, taking care of their two dogs, and planning their next adventures.
Guiding principle: Surround yourself with those who genuinely support you. Their support will uplift you when you cannot seem to do that yourself. I can say I have an amazing support system and the best people by my side; their support and belief in me and my capabilities always serves as an extra incentive to tackle every goal and obstacle.
