Adults of all artistic experience levels are invited to participate in a two-day workshop with Santa Fe-based artist Linda Lomahaftewa (Hopi-Choctaw) exploring individual responses to current and personal life events through painting and collage. The event will take place at the Roswell Museum and Art Center on Saturday, Nov. 6 and Sunday, Nov. 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days. Read more>>
The Art of Colcha with El Rancho de las Golondrinas
Workshop: Saturday, Feb 25, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb 26, 1 - 4 p.m.
In this two-day workshop, learn about the traditional New Mexican embroidery technique known as colcha from an El Rancho de las Golondrinas artisan and living history presenter. Colcha is a form of embroidery that uses wool threads on cotton or linen fabric often incorporating subtle shading and texture. Learn the history and art of traditional colcha embroidery, while designing and creating a sampler exploring a range of techniques and design motifs.
