Keep Roswell Beautiful strives to inspire, empower and educate residents. Here are the current plans from Keep Roswell Beautiful.
First, we recognize there are many amazing citizens and businesses helping to make a difference and Keep Roswell Beautiful. We would like to recognize both residents and business owners. Please contact our program coordinator Thalia Pantoja-Gruis at t.pantoja@roswell-nm.gov or (575) 637-6238 with the name of the individual and contact information so that we can provide that recognition.
Next, we know that maintenance and care of a community takes a lot of effort. While we will host several cleanups throughout the fall and spring, we want to aid civic organizations or volunteers with their own projects and endeavors. Any groups looking to host a cleanup can request supplies from Keep Roswell Beautiful by completing the
online form. For any other assistance, please contact the program coordinator (mentioned above).
We believe investing our efforts directly in our community and providing knowledge to as many people as possible will make the biggest impact. To that end, we have several programs planned. On a quarterly basis, gardening and recycling workshops will be hosted. Keep an eye out on the Keep Roswell Beautiful Facebook page for dates and times. We are also investing in our youth. In the spring, Keep Roswell Beautiful will welcome an intern who will do presentations to youth groups of all ages, focusing on Keep Roswell Beautiful goals (ending litter, improving recycling, beautifying communities and empowering youth). We truly believe our youth are our future and our program longevity depends on them.
Information and resources make all the difference. In a world where we are all bombarded with a million different ads and informational pieces, we know some of our messaging can get lost in the mix. However, thanks to some recent funding we received, Keep Roswell Beautiful will be able to have our message stand out and target our information and resources to the residents who we hope will take notice and benefit.
Keep Roswell Beautiful beautification efforts will include graffiti eradication throughout the city with the help of Code Enforcement, landscaping and improvements at Spring River Zoo and the purchase of watering equipment to help maintain planters throughout the downtown district.
Keep Roswell Beautiful will also continue its current efforts and projects, such as the CleanIt Form to help identify litter problem areas throughout the city. To utilize that online form head to roswell-nm.gov, look under “How Do I” and click on “Litter Alert (CleanIT Form)”.
Arbor Day will serve more citizens this year with an increase in the number of available seedlings, information and programs for residents that day. This day will be dedicated to beautifying our city one household at a time.
Meanwhile, the Shop Small Sweep will hopefully occur later this year with proper social distancing and COVID safety practices in place.
Volunteers are an integral part of Keep Roswell Beautiful. Becoming involved in Keep Roswell Beautiful is easy! Simply sign up using our
volunteer form. By volunteering you will be added to our volunteer email list and receive information and updates regarding Keep Roswell Beautiful.
Be sure to join our meetings! We meet the last Monday of every month at noon. For now we are meeting virtually using GoToMeeting. The link can be found online on the city website calendar or city Facebook page.
We look forward to Keeping Roswell Beautiful and hope you do as well.
