[ARCHIVED] Suspects quickly caught after armed robbery

Two men were arrested Saturday, Jan. 21, after they allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint at a house in west Roswell, leading to the victim fighting with the men and gunshots being fired during the struggle. The robbery victim suffered a non-life-threatening head injury – the cause of which remains unconfirmed – during the fight and was taken to a hospital.

Jose Juan Zambrano, 23, (left photo) and Christopher Ray Deatherage, 24, (right photo) are each charged with armed robbery, tampering with evidence, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Zambrano and Deatherage are accused of brandishing guns and robbing the 24-year-old victim while the men and two women were together Jan. 21 around 3:30 p.m. inside a house where one of the women lives in the 1600 block of West Walnut Street. A fight among the two alleged robbers and the victim ensued and ended up outside the house. A few gunshots were fired as the men fought. The two suspects then fled on foot, but were quickly located by RPD officers a few blocks away and detained as the investigation began. The suspects, whom police believe tried to dispose of the guns, remained in RPD custody as the investigation continued and were arrested several hours later.
