Two Roswell men were arrested Saturday, Feb. 4, and charged with multiple criminal counts in connection with an early-morning incident in which a gunshot was fired into a restaurant containing numerous employees and customers, including two Roswell Police Department officers.
No one was hurt by the single shot that went through the restaurant window above where the officers were seated. The suspects were quickly apprehended and detained during the investigation, which resulted in the formal arrests of the two men later that afternoon.
Candido Andazola, 29, (left photo) and Raymond Gonzales-Sedillo, 19, (right photo) are each charged with one count of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle. The attempted murder charge relates to one officer as the victim, while the other officer is the victim of one of the aggravated assault counts.
The shooting occurred at the Whataburger restaurant in the 2100 block of North Main Street around 4:30 a.m. It was not immediately determined which of the men fired the shot through the window.
The on-duty officers had come to the restaurant for a meal break and were seated inside at a table when the shot came through the window. The two suspects had been inside the restaurant when the officers entered. At that time, the suspects exited the restaurant and got into a pickup truck parked outside. Following the shot being fired, the two suspects came back into the restaurant and were apprehended without further incident.
