The Murphy Family Splash Pad will open on two weekends before launching into its everyday spring/summer schedule Memorial Day weekend.

The splash pad at Poe Corn Park (along East Second Street just east of Garden Avenue) will be open Saturday and Sunday for the weekends of May 13-14 and May 20-21 before it begins operation every day starting Memorial Day weekend. It will open Saturday, May 27, and be open every day (with occasional one-day closures for maintenance) through Labor Day (Sept. 4). The splash pad will be open each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those will be the same hours for its earlier weekend openings.

The Murphy Family Splash Pad – named for the family of Bert and Martha Murphy, a major donor for the project – features numerous water features for children and adults to enjoy while cooling off. The new aquatic-recreation facility opened to the public, which can use it for free, for the first time Memorial Day weekend last year.
