An arrest warrant was issued Aug. 18 for a Roswell man accused of fatally shooting a local woman during an argument in early August inside a hotel room in north Roswell.

Roswell Police Department detectives filed the criminal complaint in Magistrate Court and obtained the arrest warrant for Jeremy Hawkins, 35, who remains at large. Hawkins (pictured) is charged with an open count of murder and four other criminal counts in connection with the death of 31-year-old Ashley Sena of Roswell, who is believed to have been Hawkins’ girlfriend.

Sena’s body was found the afternoon of Aug. 4 when hotel staff entered the room at Comfort Suites hotel in the 3600 block of North Main Street. She had been shot once in the face.

Investigators believe that following the shooting, Hawkins, who cannot legally possess a firearm because he has a prior felony conviction for child abuse, took the gun used to fire the fatal shot and discarded it elsewhere. Investigators also believe Hawkins later threatened or intimidated two people regarding this case.

In addition to the murder charge, Hawkins faces one count of tampering with evidence, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of intimidation of a witness.

Anyone with potential information regarding the whereabouts of Jeremy Hawkins, is asked to call the Roswell Police Department at (575) 624-6770 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS(8477).
