The Roswell Police Department SWAT team is presenting “How to Survive an Active Killer.” City employees will be attending the presentations, but the public is also encouraged to attend to learn information that can help business employees and citizens in general in the event they find themselves in an active-shooter situation in a building anywhere.
There will be four times the presentation, expected to last between one and two hours, will be made. Each presentation will be made at the Roswell Convention and Civic Center (912 N. Main St.). The presentation will first be given Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 9 a.m. It will be repeated that day at 1 p.m. It will again be available Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 9 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.
This presentation was set up following the tragic shooting at a Clovis public library Aug. 28. RPD is also reviewing security measures and emergency plans at city buildings to ensure proper preparation is in place for active-shooter events. In addition, any business that would like RPD to do an assessment of its facility and offer guidance in preparing an emergency action plan can contact the police department (575-624-6770) and speak to Commander Fil Gonzales.
