A Roswell man was arrested Sept. 24 and charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s brother, whom he allegedly shot the afternoon of Sept. 22 at the victim’s home.

Michael Anthony Herrera, 33, whom police had begun looking into as a possible suspect in the case, called police early the morning of Sept. 24 to turn himself in. Officers transported him from his residence to the Roswell Police Department, where he was interviewed by an RPD detective and later arrested. Herrera (pictured) is charged with an open count of murder, attempt to commit a felony (murder), and tampering with evidence.

The body of 26-year-old Jared Analla was found by family members about 9:45 p.m. Sept. 22 inside the home in the 1000 block of West Deming Street that Analla shared with his sister and mother. The investigation later led to the discovery that Herrera went to the house intending to shoot his girlfriend (Analla’s sister) and another man Herrera believed was having a relationship with his girlfriend. However, when Herrera arrived at the house in the mid-afternoon, Analla was the only one home. Investigators believe the two men talked before Herrera shot Analla and then placed the gun outside the house.
