Members of the Roswell Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) arrested a suspected drug trafficker Oct. 9 and seized two pounds of methamphetamine, an amount estimated to be worth more than $32,000 if sold locally on the street.

An RPD investigation led the SID agents to the house of Corry R. Hays, 25, in the 1600 block of North Ohio Avenue. Agents went to the house around 11 a.m. to serve a search warrant in relation to their narcotics-trafficking investigation. Hays would not answer the door or exit the house when police announced they were there with a warrant. The RPD SWAT team was called on to make entry into the house, which it did by breaching the front door.

Hays, who was the only person in the house, was found hiding behind the door and was taken into custody. He is charged with trafficking controlled substances (methamphetamine) and possession, delivery or manufacture of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Chaves County Detention Center.
