The 33rd Annual Reindeer Run is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2. The event offers a competitive 10K run, 10K walk, 5K run and 5K walk. The races begin at 9 a.m. at the Roswell Adult and Recreation Center at 807 N. Missouri Ave.
Participants in the various races will compete in nine age divisions in men’s and women’s categories. Age divisions are 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-70, and 70 and over. Overall male and female winners in each race will receive awards. First- through third-place finishers will receive medals in each age group. An award will be given to the best “Christmassy” outfit and drawings for various items will be conducted after the races. T-shirts will be given to all participants.
“The turnout is always great, just a good wholesome fitness activity,” said event organizer Sara Hall of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. “It’s events like this that show the importance of recreation and fitness to our area. There’s nothing quite like it.”
The Reindeer Run is sponsored by Rio Pecos Medical Associates and the Roswell Parks and Recreation Department. Additional sponsors are Noisy Water Artwear, Peppers Grill and Bar, and Kindred Spirits Art.
