With dozens of updated and new attractions, the second year for the Roswell Christmas Railway will bring holiday cheer to thousands of families during the 2017 season, which opens Nov. 24.
More than 10,000 rode The Roswell Christmas Railway to visit St. Nicholas Station last year at the Spring River Park and Zoo. This year, Roebuck Entertainment has added two exciting new destinations for holiday memories: the Polar Zone and the World of Light.
“We wanted to add something new to the Christmas magic,” said Jacob Roebuck, Roswell Christmas Railway Producer. “We can’t wait to share the Polar Zone with its dancing bears and Christmas fairies. And the World of Light exhibit will dazzle the bah humbug out of everyone.”
The train will run weekends (Friday through Sunday) starting November 24, and everyday starting December 14 until Christmas Eve. Because the train sold out Christmas week last year, The Roswell Christmas Railway will be open an encore week this year: December 26 until New Year’s Eve. Hours for the Christmas Railway are 5 to 9 p.m.
Headlining the new destinations at the train stop is the interactive Polar Zone.
“The team thought guests would love to interact with polar bears, but of course live polar bears were out of the question,” said Roebuck. “But dancing polar bear characters would delight children of all ages. When the team was working on the polar artwork, they noticed the Northern Lights. Wouldn’t it be fun if we could interact with the Aurora Borealis like the dancing polar bears? Soon the team was hard at work creating the Christmas Fairies.”
In addition to the Dancing Polar Bears and Christmas Fairies, the Polar Zone also features a new Chocolate Bar, the new Winter Wonderland (with actual snow, temperature permitting), make-your-own Polar Pal plush animals, and the Human Snow Globe.
The World of Lights destination will feature the World of Lights show, where guests can select a favorite Christmas song to be illuminated by an interactive light extravaganza. Afterwards, they can take a walk through the falling light drops on Twinkle Lane.
Returning from last year is the hit destination Santa’s Square. The square features pictures with St. Nicholas and complementary hot chocolate from Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen at Santa’s Homestead. Kids young and old can play at Santa’s Toy Train Workshop or the nine playhouses at The Little Christmas Village.
Live and cinematic entertainment also returns to Santa’s Square. The Spirit of Christmas theater will be playing short films including last year’s favorite, “The Spirit of Christmas.” Live entertainment from Studio+, Roswell High School Choirs, KAPS Theater, Live Piano Studios, Sierra Middle School Choirs and the Roswell Youth Symphony Orchestra and more will be presented on the main stage at Santa’s Square.
Tickets are $12 for adults, children 3-14 are $8, and 2 and under are free. Tickets include train ride, admission to St. Nicholas Station (which includes Santa’s Square, Polar Zone and World of Lights) and a complementary hot chocolate from Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen.
