Friends of Spring River Zoo are looking for volunteers to join the pack! An informational “Meet and Greet” session will be held Tuesday, May 22, to offer the public the chance to learn about the Friends’ mission, future goals and volunteer opportunities.

The meeting will be a question-and-answer session. It will begin at 6 p.m. at the Spring River Park and Zoo office. The zoo is at 1306 E. College Blvd. Attendees should park in the zoo’s northeast lot.

Friends of Spring River Zoo is a non-profit group established to partner with and support the ongoing efforts and growth at the Spring River Park and Zoo. The Friends’ mission is to raise money through membership drives and fundraisers. Money collected is used for exhibits, enclosures and enrichment for the animals. Support is also offered to enhance education and environmental programs for the public.

The zoo Friends offer a variety of membership options with various rates ranging from a $30 single senior (65 or older) membership to a $500 corporate membership. A single adult membership is available for $40 while a membership for a couple is offered at $60. Membership benefits include a monthly newsletter, membership card and organization sticker, an annual picnic and the ability to attend the Friends’ monthly meeting, which takes place at the zoo the fourth Thursday of each month.

The organization is looking for people with skills to help with promotion and event planning, organization and administration for marketing and programs, membership recruitment and management, and accounting support.
