[ARCHIVED] Armed robber steals money from gas station

Roswell, N.M. — Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Tuesday night (Aug. 16) at the Valero gas station in the 3300 block of North Main Street. Members of the public are asked to call Roswell police (575-624-6770) if they have any information that could be related to this robbery and help investigators identify and locate the suspect.
The robber entered the store section of the gas station about 9:30 p.m. and approached the clerk, who was away from the counter at the time. The robber grabbed the female clerk’s arm, threatened her with a handgun and demanded money. He left the store with a bag of money shortly after a customer entered the store. The robber fled the immediate area of the store on foot. No one was injured during the robbery.
The suspect had much of his face covered with a bandana during the robbery. However, the suspect is believed to be a heavy-set Hispanic man, possibly in his late 30s or early 40s and about 5’2” to 5’5” tall.
