RMAC pARTy After Hours Aug. 24

Science and art will share the spotlight during the next Roswell Museum and Art Center’s “pARTy After Hours.” The free event designed for adults will take place Friday, Aug, 24, at the museum (1011 N. Richardson Ave.) from 6 to 9 p.m.

The pARTy After Hours program is a series of events that aim to expand access to the museum and present art as an integral part of life in the community.

August’s pARTy will feature a science theme in preparation for the Roswell Science and Art Festival coming later this fall to the Convention and Civic Center. This month’s pARTy After Hours will offer a variety of activities in a fun, social atmosphere, including a live DJ, photo booth, interactive science and art activities, a science trivia game and a planetarium star show. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Toddzilla’s Mobile Catering and a cash bar will be available. A Kid’s Zone will be available for children ages 2-12 to free up parents to enjoy the event. Pre-registration for the Kid’s Zone is preferred. To register, email Tiffany Melancon at t.melancon@roswell-nm.gov or call (575) 624-6744 ext. 10.

The evening will be flexible with visitors able to pick and choose in which activities they would like to participate. Five Star DJ and Photo Booth will play music and snap photos. Explora from Albuquerque will have interactive science activities in which to participate and observe all evening.

At 6:30 p.m., Miranda Howe from Bone Springs Arts Space will demonstrate the art medium of egg tempera and will teach the process. At 7 p.m., a team-based Science Trivia Game will commence and prizes will be given to winners. Teams of up to six people each can register before the event by contacting Tiffany at t.melancon@roswell-nm.gov or (575) 624-6744 ext. 10. The Robert H. Goddard Planetarium will have a star show at 8:30 p.m. presented by Planetarium Coordinator Jeremy Howe.

Throughout the pARTy After Hours, prize tickets will be available to those who participate in some of the activities. The prize drawing will take place at 8:45 p.m.

Discounted museum memberships will be available and the Museum Store will be open with special discounts on select items.

While admission to the event is free, donations are welcome. For more information on this or future events, contact Cydney Fulks at c.fulks@roswell-nm.gov
