The Roswell Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the annual Turtle Marathon Saturday, Sept. 1, at the event’s new location. The event featuring a competitive marathon, half-marathon, 10K walk, 10K run, 5K run and 5K walk will be on the road that runs around the outside of the Roswell International Air Center at the southern end of the city.
The marathon and half-marathon will begin at 6 a.m. The 10K run, 10K walk, 5K run and 5K walk begin at 8 a.m. All races will start at RIAC Park at 28 W. Earl Cummings Loop.
Participants will compete in nine age divisions for both men and women in all events. Age divisions are 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-70, and 70 and over. Overall winners male and female in both races will receive awards. First-through third-place finishers will receive medals in each age group. T-shirts will be given to all participants and drawings for door prizes will take place following the race.
Entry forms are available at the Roswell Adult and Recreation Center at 807 N. Missouri Ave. or online at active.com. Registration fee for any of the races is $30 on or before Aug. 31 or $35 on race day. There is no race-day registration for the marathon and half-marathon. Registration on race day for the 10K run, 10K walk, 5K run and 5K walk will be 6:30-7:30 a.m. at RIAC Park. Packet pickup will be Aug. 31 at RIAC Park from 4 to 6 p.m. or on race day from 6 to 7:30 a.m. for the 10K and 5K runs and walks. Cash and checks are accepted at on-site registration.
