[ARCHIVED] Teen motorcyclist suffers fatal injuries in crash

crash on Union

A local teenager died Tuesday, Sept. 6, as the result of a motor-vehicle crash involving the motorcycle he was driving and a car carrying two adults. The crash occurred in southwest Roswell that day about 2:20 p.m. on South Union Avenue at the intersection with Davidson Drive.

RPD's initial investigation indicated the motorcycle was traveling north on Union at a high rate of speed when the car pulled out from Davidson (which is on the east side of Union) to make a left turn into the southbound lanes of Union. The left turn required the car to cross Union’s northbound lanes in which the motorcycle was traveling.

The Kawasaki motorcycle and Dodge Magnum car collided, with each vehicle impacting the other in its front-end area. The motorcycle driver, who was wearing a helmet, was the lone person on the motorcycle. The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist, Camryn Castro, 15, to be thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital, but died of his injuries suffered in the crash.

The 37-year-old woman driving the car and her passenger, a 32-year-old man, both from Roswell, were uninjured in the crash.
