This Sunday (Sept. 11) will be this summer’s last day the train and carousel will operate at the Spring River Park and Zoo. The free-admission zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The rides will reopen Easter weekend 2017.
The train will run, however, as part of The Roswell Christmas Railway at the zoo in November and December. The initial tentative dates for this new holiday program are Nov. 25-27, Dec. 9-11, Dec. 17-24 and Dec. 26-28.
The Christmas Railway features a train ride through several light shows with music, followed by a stop at St. Nicholas Station. At the station, families and friends will enjoy entertainment, food, holiday shopping and an opportunity for photos with Santa. Also, children can build toys in Santa’s workshop, visit Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen, and play in the Little Village. There will be live entertainment and a short film called “The Story of Christmas.”
