As the Roswell Police Department takes steps to re-establish a K9 unit within the department, RPD is asking for the community’s help in landing some grant money that would go toward the police-dog program.
Each year, Aftermath Services, an Aurora, Ill.-based trauma cleaning and biohazard removal company (the type of specialists used for certain crime-scene cleanup), holds an online voting contest to determine the winners of its Aftermath K9 Grants. These grants, which will be awarded to the top seven vote-getters participating in this year’s national contest, contribute to law enforcement departments’ financial resources to fund the establishment and operation of K9 units. RPD is currently working to re-establish a K9 unit – a police dog and an officer trained as its handler – within the department.
Voting for the grant began Wednesday, Oct. 23, and ends Sunday, Nov. 3, at 10:59 p.m. (Mountain Time). Voting takes place at aftermath.com/k9-grant, where people can also find more information about the grant. The seven grant winners will be determined by popular vote, so RPD asks citizens to let their family and friends know about the contest and encourage them to vote. Each individual can vote once every 24 hours.

RPD thanks the community for helping the department in the effort to win this contest that can help with the necessary funding to potentially bring a K9 unit back to RPD.
