[ARCHIVED] Library Reopening!

RPL LOGO

On Wednesday, August 12th, the Roswell Public Library will open its doors again!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the construction on the bathrooms, the library will be operating under some special conditions. These are some of the modifications that you can expect to see:

Hours are subject to change, but as of right now, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a senior hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to accommodate those that are most vulnerable to COVID-19.

Starting the week of August 18th, the library will be open 4 days a week from Tuesday through Friday and we hope to expand to Saturdays.

It will be mandatory for all patrons to wear a mask and have their library card before entering the building. The library will not be operating at full capacity and only a certain amount of people will be allowed entrance at a time.

As patrons come through the front door, there will be a return box in the lobby. All items being returned must be placed there or in the outside book drop located in the alley on the east side of the library. This will give library staff the chance to quarantine these items before cleaning and re-shelving them. All items will be held for three days, which is the recommended time by both the CDC and ALA. The grace period has already been adjusted so that no one will have any overdue books or fines for those three days.

Staff members will be practicing enhanced cleaning throughout the day. At the Circulation desk, sneeze guards have been installed and guides have been placed on the floor using tape to help maintain social distancing. Additionally, there will be two self-checkout stations.

All of the public computer stations have been relocated to maintain social distancing and improve the patrons’ experience using the computers. Many chairs have also been temporarily removed so that it will be easier to stay 6 feet apart. Due to the limited amount of people permitted in the library, patrons will only be allowed to log in once per day for one hour only.

The Children’s Area is closed to the public while repairs are being made. Staff will retrieve materials upon request.

The library’s meeting rooms will not be available and there will be no in person programs until the repairs are complete.

The library will continue to offer a concierge service, Library on the Go, for library materials with delivery on the east side of the building.

Thank you for your support and patience through this unprecedented time.

The library is looking forward to seeing the Roswell community members once again!
