The Roswell Parks and Recreation Department participated in the “Maze of Life” event organized by the N.M. Department of Health held this past week (Oct. 11-13) at the Roswell Convention and Civic Center. Ruben Esquivel and Gina Montague of Parks and Recreation set up the department’s booth at which eighth-graders learned about tree planting (and received tree seedlings) and were told of some of the care a tree requires to thrive. Speaking of care and thriving, Ruben and Gina also encouraged the students to take care to make wise life choices and begin to think and learn about possible career choices they might be interested in. The booth is one of numerous booths representing local organizations and businesses sharing a variety of information to help the young citizens make smart life choices and begin to prepare for their future.
