How do I reclaim my pet from Animal Services?

If your pet ends up at Animal Services, you are subject to a reclaim fee.

Come to the shelter and show some type of proof the animal is yours (pictures, veterinarian receipts). Pick the veterinarian of your choice, and prepay for rabies vaccination, microchipping and spaying/neutering services (or provide proof these services have been provided).

Pay the $40 reclaim fee.

Animal Services will hold the pet until the appointment. Once the appointment is complete, you can take your pet home from the veterinarian's office. Note: If vaccination, microchipping and spaying/neutering* has already taken place, you may take your pet home from Animal Services.

Every additional reclaim will increase the fee by $20; i.e. $60 for a second reclaim, $80 for a third, etc.

* - Spaying/neutering requirement waived if the pet is registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) or United Kennel Club (UKC).
