Facility History

The Roswell Adult & Recreation Center is a place where adults and kids meet to socialize and enjoy learning new things or expanding what they already know in a safe environment. The Center has been serving the community for over 40 years.

The facility was once the Memorial Youth Center but with the closure of the Walker Air Force Base the City of Roswell decided to attract seniors to this area to help the economy - and it worked! The adults soon outgrew the facility that they were using and saw a great possibility to utilize this center. The youth were moved to the Yucca Recreation Center where activities were geared toward the youth in the community. Then in 2016, with the closure of the Yucca Recreation Center, the youth were moved back into this facility. Now this facility serves all ages.

Features

The Roswell Adult & Recreation Center has a playground/park area on the east side and a walking trail. Asa Guffey Park is located just to the west across the street with horseshoe pits and shuffleboard courts.

The beautiful walk/bike trail on the west side surrounds the area and leads to Cahoon Park and on to Enchanted Lands Park. Walkers and bikers can travel east and arrive at the Spring River Park and Zoo. The Roswell Recreation Center has three entrances with plenty of parking.

There are 13 rooms in the facility and eight bathrooms. The rooms are utilized for classes, activities, rentals and monthly organization meetings.
